Peastum

 

 

Called by the Greeks Poseidon, by the Italians  Paistom Paitos, Paestum by the Romans.
Located in the eastern part of the Gulf of Salerno, 10 km from the mouth of the river Sele, in the territory of Lucania and the northern border of the region in the century. IV BC you used to call Magna Grecia, it was one of the richest and most flourishing Greek colonies of southern Italy on the west coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea.
